SUGARING on the land

Coming Spring 2023

When friends Mike and Amy of Lost Creek Farm came with me to see the house we’d move in to in Michigan, one of the first things Mike noticed about our 1 acre property were the sugar maples. “Oh, and you can tap those for maple syrup!” I had never done such a thing, but as has often been the case with Mike and Amy, they make so much of the culinary world that seems out of reach normal and achievable. Nearly a year later, my family and I have 5L of maple syrup from the sugar maples on our property. Above is a short clip from a forthcoming documentary, chronicling our first attempt at sugaring. It has been an incredible journey and I’m thrilled to share it with you.
